In the past, sharing a room with your family was commonplace, but the need for individual space was recognized early on. In the 1820s, Jacobus pioneered the creation of separate bedrooms as his family grew, a museum suggests.

After dividing the space, both adults and children enjoyed more sizable personal rooms. Notably, one of these rooms now houses an elegant green couch, marking the evolution from shared spaces to personalized living areas.
